Jong FC Groningen heeft dinsdagavond in Heerenveen de topper tegen de plaatselijke Beloften met 1-0 verloren. Het winnende doelpunt werd al in de vierde minuut gescoord. Na vijf speelrondes staat de ploeg van trainer Dick Lukkien nu op de zesde plek.
Jong FC Groningen trad in de noordelijke Beloftenderby aan met zeven spelers vanuit de A-selectie. Marco Bizot, Stefano Magnasco, Emil Johansson, Oluwafemi Ajilore, Henk Bos, Filip Kostic en Suk Hyun-Jun speelden mee.
Al in de vierde minuut scoorde Kenny Otigba de, naar later bleek, winnende treffer: 1-0. Dichterbij dan een bal op de lat van Filip Kostic kwam FC Groningen niet. Ondanks een overwicht werden niet echt uitgespeelde kansen gecreëerd.
In de tweede helft was het opnieuw Groningen dat de klok sloeg. Henk Bos en Filip Kostic zorgden geregeld voor dreiging in de Friese zestien, maar de bal wilde er niet in. Trainer Dick Lukkien kon zijn spelers dan ook uitsluitend verwijten dat er niet was gescoord.
Door de nederlaag zakt Jong FC Groningen naar de zesde plek op de ranglijst in de Beloftencompetitie. Met zeven punten uit vijf duels is het gat met koploper Heerenveen nu vijf punten. Komende maandag is Heracles te gast op Corpus den Hoorn.
