Jong FC Groningen heeft maandagavond op Corpus den Hoorn met 1-0 verloren van Vitesse/AGOVV. Het winnende doelpunt viel tien minuten na rust. De FC staat nu negende en ontvangt donderdag Jong Heerenveen/Emmen.
Voor de pauze kreeg de thuisclub de beste kans. Danny Post schampte met een kopbal de paal en na de volgende voorzet van Mike Zonneveld schoot Serhat Koç vlak naast.
Na de pauze schakelde Erwin van de Looi over van 4-4-2 naar 4-3-3. Na een kleine tien minuten kwam Vitesse/AGOVV op voorsprong door een treffer van Soufiane Laghmouchi. In de slotfase kwam Michael Jansen als breekijzer mee naar voren, maar viel de bal telkens verkeerd voor Groningen.
De gasten wisten aan de overzijde enkele gevaarlijke uitbraken niet af te ronden. FC Groningen kreeg in de slotminuut de beste kans op de gelijkmaker, maar Koç mikte een kopbal in de handen van doelman Room.
De ploeg van trainer Erwin van de Looi speelt voor de winterstop nog twee thuisduels. Komende donderdag is Heerenveen/Emmen te gast op Corpus den Hoorn. Op maandag 14 december komt Jong Ajax naar Achilles 1894 voor de thuiswedstrijd tegen Jong FC Groningen.
