Jong FC Groningen heeft maandagavond in Rotterdam op kunstgras doelpuntloos gelijkgespeeld tegen de Beloften van Sparta. De FC deed dat met een piepjong elftal met drie debutanten.
In Rotterdam trad het team van trainer Erwin van de Looi aan met drie spelers die hun eerste wedstrijd van het seizoen speelden in de Beloften Eredivisie: Hilal Ben Moussa (A1), Koos Werkman en Jeroen van Erkel. Bovendien was Serhat Koç de enige speler in de selectie die al een keer had gescoord in competitieverband.
Tegen de nummer 2 van de ranglijst kwam de ploeg prima voor de dag. Mart Dijkstra raakte in de eerste helft de paal. Serhat Koç raakte het houtwerk in de tweede helft. In de slotfase ging de thuisploeg nog bijna met de drie punten aan de haal, maar ging de bal na een scrimmage over het doel van Leon ter Wielen.
Tot de winterstop speelt de ploeg nog drie thuiswedstrijden. Op maandag 7 en donderdag 10 december komen Vitesse/AGOVV en Heerenveen/Emmen op bezoek op Corpus. Op maandag 14 december wordt bij Achilles 1894 in Assen gespeeld tegen Jong Ajax.
