Jong FC Groningen heeft de laatste thuiswedstrijd van het seizoen 2012/2013 in winst omgezet. Op Sportpark Corpus den Hoorn werd Jong NEC/FC Oss met 2-0 verslagen. Alair Cruz Vicente en Matias Jones tekenden voor de doelpunten.
De ploeg van trainer Dick Lukkien boekte de dertiende zege van het seizoen. Daarmee werd het clubrecord van twaalf zeges gebroken. Met nog een uitwedstrijd tegen Jong ADO Den Haag voor de boeg werd het doelpuntenrecord scherper gesteld, op 52.
Na twintig minuten werd Suk Hyun-Jun onderuit gehaald door Daan Disveld en kreeg de FC een strafschop te nemen. Aanvoerder Henk Bos knalde de bal op de lat. In de eerste helft kreeg FC Groningen nog enkele mogelijkheden, maar bleef de hekkensluiter op de been.
Na de pauze werd Koen van de Laak afgelost door Matias Jones. Kansen van Suk Hyun-Jun en Matias Jones gingen vooraf aan een nieuwe strafschop te nemen. Met nog twintig minuten op de klok kreeg FC Groningen opnieuw een strafschop te nemen. Disveld maakte een overtreding op Henk Bos.
Deze keer nam ‘Kolonicio’ Alair Cruz Vicente plaats achter de bal en hij benutte deze bal van elf meter wel: 1-0. Met Atilay Batbay en Mark Diemers als tweede en derde invaller kreeg Jong FC Groningen nu volledig de controle over de wedstrijd. Acht minuten voor tijd gaf invaller Atilay Batbay de bal op de andere invaller, Matias Jones. De Uruguayaan knalde zijn zesde treffer tegen de touwen.
