Bjorn Meijer is vrijdagmiddag te gast tijdens FC Groningen de Warming-up. Samen met de linksback afkomstig uit de Opleiding van FC Groningen wordt vooruitgekeken naar het competitieduel met Vitesse. FC Groningen de Warming-up wordt uitgezonden vanuit de Word Groter Studio in Euroborg en is te zien op het YouTube-kanaal van de FC.
Meijer maakte begin dit seizoen de overstap vanuit de Opleiding naar de eerste selectie. De 19-jarige Groninger tekende een meerjarig contract in Euroborg en kwam dit seizoen al 11 keer in actie voor de Trots van het Noorden. De laatste drie wedstrijden stond Meijer als linksback in de basisopstelling.
Meijer begon met voetballen bij VV Helpman voordat hij instroomde in de Opleiding van FC Groningen. De verdediger doorliep de gehele Opleiding van de Trots van het Noorden en debuteerde afgelopen seizoen in de laatste speelronde in de Eredivisie. Dit seizoen had hij in de Derby van het Noorden tegen Heerenveen zijn eerste basisplaats ooit. Meijer werd vorig seizoen uitgeroepen tot Best Western Strijder van het Jaar binnen de Opleiding.
Naast Meijer in de Word Groter Studio gaat de battle tussen voormalig FC’er Kurt Elshot en voorzitter van de Supportersvereniging John de Jonge verder. De Jonge heeft een kleine voorsprong door één goede voorspelling. Wat denken beide mannen over het duel van zaterdag met Vitesse?
