De Supportersvereniging FC Groningen is het grootste supportersorgaan van de Trots van het Noorden. De vereniging werd in 1984 opgericht en is uitgegroeid tot een supportersclub met ruim 4.000 leden. In de special ‘Supportersvereniging FC Groningen’ wordt met de voormalig voorzitters en huidige voorzitter teruggekeken op de ontwikkeling van deze vereniging.
Derk Eimers, Jan Westerhoff, Roger Stinissen, John Schurer en John de Jonge hebben allen als voorzitter van de Supportersvereniging FC Groningen een belangrijke rol gehad in de geschiedenis en groei van het supportersorgaan. In de special kijken ze terug op de periode waarin zijn aan het roer stonden van het bestuur van de Supportersvereniging. Een special vol bijzondere momenten en mooie anekdotes.
Zo komt het ontstaan van de Supportersvereniging ter sprake. Net als de start van de FanTour, het initiatief om een Open Dag van FC Groningen te organiseren, de realisatie van het standbeeld van clubicoon Tonny van Leeuwen en de ontwikkeling van het Supportershome. Allemaal zaken die bij de Supportersvereniging zijn begonnen.
De special was woensdagavond te zien op ESPN en is vanaf nu terug te kijken via het YouTube-kanaal van FC Groningen of via onderstaande videoplayer.
