De laatste voetbalzaterdag van dit seizoen is op voorhand al een bijzondere. Als eerste jeugdteam van FC Groningen spelen de B-junioren in een landelijke bekerfinale.
Op de velden van WHC in Wezep strijden FC Groningen/Cambuur B1 en Ajax B1 om de Jeugdcup. Beide ploegen wonnen in de halvefinales hun uitwedstrijd. De ploeg van trainer Peter Moltmaker won nipt met 1-0 bij eerstedivisionist NEC/FC Oss B1. Het duel Feyenoord B1 v Ajax B1 werd afgelopen woensdag hervat en door de Amsterdammers met 2-0 gewonnen. Hiervoor schakelden de Groningers respectievelijk PSV B2 en FC Twente B1 uit.
Ajax B1 werd vorig weekeinde kampioen van de eredivisie. De krachtsverschillen waren echter klein want de ploeg had slechts drie punten voorsprong op de nummer vier FC Twente B1. Een van de zeven verliespartijen die de roodwitten incasseerden was in het begin van het seizoen tegen FC Groningen/Cambuur B1. Dat duel eindigde op sportpark De Toekomst in 2-3. Op Corpus den Hoorn won de huidige kampioen wel: 0-2.
Na dit weekeinde weten we ook wie kampioen van de Tweede Divisie F is geworden. SC Genemuiden D1 gaat de laatste ronde in als favoriet. De voorsprong op FC Groningen/Cambuur D3 bedraagt drie punten en dus volstaat een gelijkspel voor de ploeg uit Overijssel in de thuismatch tegen Be Quick 1887 D1. FC Groningen/Cambuur D3 sluit het seizoen af met een duel op Corpus tegen Urk D1. Mochten beide resultaten toch in Gronings voordeel uitvallen dan volgt een beslissingswedstrijd om de titel.
