Juninho Bacuna maakte afgelopen donderdag zijn debuut in het eerste elftal van FC Groningen. De 17-jarige allrounder uit de eigen jeugdopleiding mocht zondagmiddag tegen AZ voor het eerst in Euroborg invallen. Echt een blij gevoel hield Bacuna vanwege de nederlaag niet over aan zijn eerste minuten in eigen stadion.
“Het is mooi, maar ik sta hier niet met een lekker gevoel,” meent de jongere broer van voormalig FC’er Leandro. “Natuurlijk wilde ik, als jongen uit de eigen jeugdopleiding, graag in Euroborg debuteren en is het mooi dat het ook gebeurde, maar door het verlies voelt het anders dan afgelopen donderdag.” FC Groningen nam donderdag in de slotfase één punt mee uit Almelo tegen Heracles. Vergelijking De vergelijking met zijn broer Leandro is snel gemaakt. Qua uiterlijk lijken beide broers erg op elkaar en ook de manier van lopen heeft gelijkenissen. “Ik hoor dat wel vaker,” lacht de jongste Bacuna. Typerend aan Leandro Bacuna in zijn tijd bij FC Groningen was dat hij bijvoorbeeld al heel jong strafschoppen nam en geen enkele angst kende. Ook Juninho is niet snel bang op het veld.
“Ik heb alle wedstrijden van mijn broer hier in Euroborg gezien en weet daarom al een beetje hoe het publiek kan reageren. Je moet ook niet bang zijn als voetballer. Ik train nu al een paar maanden mee met het eerste en moet gewoon volwassen voetbal spelen. Ik wil mezelf laten zien en zal de komende weken mijn uiterste best doen om vaker bij de wedstrijdselectie te horen.”
