Leandro Bacuna keert vanmiddag terug in Euroborg. De door FC Groningen opgeleide speler heeft een succesvol eerste seizoen achter de rug bij het Engelse Aston Villa. In het programmaboekje van vandaag staat een interview met de Groninger.
“Het gaat goed met me,” laat hij weten. “Het leven in Engeland is mooi en ik heb het goed naar mijn zin. Het is allemaal wat groter dan in Nederland en de mensen leven hier echt voor het voetbal. Natuurlijk had ik die verhalen ook wel eens gehoord over de Engelse sfeer en het is ook ongeveer wel zoals ik me het had voorgesteld, maar af en toe denk je ook wel bij jezelf: ‘Wow wat een mensen.’ Het voetbal kan de sfeer van het hele weekend voor de supporters bepalen.”
De nummer 7 van Aston Villa heeft veel zin in de wedstrijd in het stadion waar het voor hem allemaal begon. “Ik heb erg naar deze wedstrijd uitgekeken en ben dan ook zeer blij om weer een keer terug te zijn in Euroborg. Ik heb mijn hele jeugd bij FC Groningen gespeeld, mijn broertje speelt ook in de jeugd (A1 – red.) van de club en mijn ouders wonen er nog steeds in de buurt. FC Groningen zit in mijn hart en daarom is het fijn om hier terug te komen.”
