Leandro Bacuna en Steffen Bakker zijn door bondscoach Wim van Zwam geselecteerd voor Oranje onder-19. Daley Blind en Leonard Nienhuis zitten in de voorselectie van Jong Oranje.
Middenvelder Bacuna en doelman Bakker spelen op dinsdag 2 maart in Waalwijk een oefeninterland tegen de leeftijdsgenoten van Engeland onder-19. De ploeg is in voorbereiding op de Eliteronde van de EK-kwalificatie die in mei van dit jaar in Nederland wordt afgewerkt. Nederland is ingedeeld bij Duitsland, Polen en Slowakije. Alleen de winnaar gaat naar het EK dat van 18 tot en met 30 juli in Frankrijk wordt gespeeld.
Verdediger Daley Blind en doelman Leonard Nienhuis zitten in de voorselectie van Jong Oranje. Bondscoach Cor Pot maakt vrijdag 26 februari zijn definitieve selectie bekend voor het EK-kwalificatieduel met Polen dat woensdag 3 maart in Doetinchem wordt gespeeld. Jong Oranje heeft de voorgaande vijf wedstrijden gewonnen. In het najaar worden nog de uitduels bij Spanje en Liechtenstein gespeeld. De poulewinnaar plaatst zich voor de play-offs om deelname aan het EK 2011 in Denemarken.
