Voormalig ploeggenoten Arjen Robben en Martin Drent zitten vanmiddag in FC Groningen 'de Warming-up.' De uitzending, donderdagmiddag opgenomen in de Word Groter Studio in Euroborg, wordt uitgezonden via het YouTube-kanaal van FC Groningen en is onder meer terug te kijken via onderstaande videoplayer.
FC Groningen speelt zondagmiddag om 12.15 uur in Euroborg tegen RKC Waalwijk. De wedstrijd staat in het teken van het eerbetoon aan Arjen Robben. Niet geheel toevallig bij de wedstrijd tegen RKC. Bijna 21 jaar geleden op 3 december 2000 debuteerde Robben tegen de Waalwijkers als 16-jarige in het betaalde voetbal.
Robben maakte in de zomer van 2020 – na een rijke carrière langs absolute topclubs en na een jaar te zijn gestopt – spectaculair en onverwacht zijn comeback als voetballer bij FC Groningen. Daarmee liet Robben over zielsveel clubliefde te beschikken. Afgelopen zomer besloot de aanvaller definitief te stoppen met voetballen. Robben keert zondag voor het eerst sinds zijn beslissing om te stoppen terug in Euroborg.
Martin Drent was één van de collega-aanvallers in het team van FC Groningen waarin Robben 21 jaar geleden zijn debuut maakte in het betaalde voetbal. Ze speelden samen in de wedstrijd waarin de Bedummer debuteerde. De oud-teamgenoten kijken in de uitzending onder meer terug op die wedstrijd als ook op het eerste doelpunt van Robben ooit, thuis tegen Ajax, waarbij Drent de assist gaf.
In de Word Groter Studio beschouwen Robben en Drent ook voor op de wedstrijd van zondag tegen RKC, het eerbetoon en uiteraard wordt teruggekeken op de comeback van Robben bij de FC. Presentatie van de show FC Groningen ‘de Warming-up’ is in handen van Frank Veenhof.
