Vrijdagmiddag hebben spits Marcus Berg en doelman Luciano da Silva de 11-jarige Arjen Plat in Westerlee verrast met een bezoek op de Venemaschool. Hij raakte bij een brand al zijn FC Groningen-spullen kwijt en kreeg van de spelers nieuwe FC-attributen. Vanavond besteden diverse TV-programma's hier aandacht aan.
Tijdens een brand in zijn ouderlijke woning heeft Arjen eind oktober ternauwernood het huis – via het dakraam – kunnen verlaten, maar is zijn kamer letterlijk en figuurlijk in rook opgegaan. De kamer was voorzien van allerlei FC Groningen-spullen en die zijn dus verloren gegaan. Het gezin woont nu tijdelijk in Scheemda.
Zijn vader klopte aan bij FC Groningen met het verzoek of ze het leed van Arjen wat konden verzachten. Want de 11-jarige FC-fan had nu net afgelopen winter zijn FC Groningen-kamer voltooid met daarin allerlei voorwerpen, zoals vlaggen, posters, een klok, een lamp, shirts, een bal, vaantjes en FC-kleding. Samen met zijn vader en moeder zit Arjen elke thuiswedstrijd in Vak S om zijn favoriete club aan te moedigen.
Vrijdagmiddag werd Arjen in zijn klas op de Venemaschool in Westerlee verrast door Marcus Berg en Luciano da Silva en kreeg hij allemaal nieuwe spullen voor in de nieuwe slaapkamer, die hij over een paar maanden weer wil inrichten.
RTV Noord zendt een reportage uit in het Journaal vanaf 18.00 uur. Om 18.45 op Nederland 3 is er een item te zien in het Jeugdjournaal. En om half elf vanavond wordt er in Hart van Nederland op SBS6 aandacht aan besteed.
