Oluwafemi Ajilore was afgelopen zondag één van de aandachtige toeschouwers tijdens de verloren wedstrijd tegen ADO Den Haag. De middenvelder, die tot afgelopen zomer, bij FC Groningen onder contract stond, voetbalt sinds kort weer in Denemarken bij zijn oude club FC Midtjylland.
Ajilore speelde in de periode van 2008 tot 2013 bij de Trots van het Noorden en kwam tot 99 wedstrijden in het groen-witte shirt. De middenvelder heeft nog veel bekenden in Groningen. “Ik had een vrije dag en had dus tijd om bij mijn oude vrienden te kijken,” lichtte Ajilore zijn verrassingsbezoek aan FC Groningen toe. “Ik heb af en toe nog telefonisch contact met verschillende spelers en mensen van de club dus het was goed om ze weer een keer te zien. Helaas heeft FC Groningen niet kunnen winnen, maar het was leuk om hier weer te zijn.”
Ajilore speelt sinds enkele weken weer bij zijn oude club uit Denemarken FC Midtjylland. “Hoewel er natuurlijk erg veel is gebeurd in de tussentijd is het fijn om weer terug te zijn. Ik voel me daar erg goed. Oud-FC’er Petter Andersson speelt er ook en doet het heel goed. Het is goed om een speler naast me te hebben die ik al wat beter ken.”
