Komende zaterdag heeft ook Oluwafemi Ajilore een interlandverplichting. In zijn vaderland Nigeria hoort hij voor het eerst bij de nationale A-selectie. Afgelopen zomer won hij zilver met het Olympisch team.
Nigeria is reeds geplaatst voor de volgende fase van het WK-kwalificatietoernooi. Thuis in Abuja werden Zuid-Afrika en Equatoriaal Guinee met 2-0 verslagen. De uitduels in Sierra Leone, Equatoriaal Guinee en Zuid-Afrika werrden allemaal met 1-0 gewonnen. Zaterdag is Sierra Leone te gast in Nigeria. Aanvang is 16.00 uur lokale tijd.
De twaalf groepswinnaars en de acht beste nummers 2 gaan naar de volgende fase waarin vijf groepen van vier landen worden gevormd. De vijf groepswinnaars plaatsen zich uiteindelijk voor het WK dat in 2010 in Zuid-Afrika wordt gehouden. Opmerkelijk is overigens dat Zuid-Afrika buiten mededinging aan de WK-voorrondes meedoet. Dit heeft alles te maken met het feit dat de kwalificatiewedstrijden ook gespeeld worden als voorronde voor de African Nations Cup, die in 2010 in Angola wordt gehouden.
