Komend weekeinde vallen in een tweetal competities de laatste beslissingen voor onze jeugdteams
De A-junioren van FC Groningen hebben maar een opdracht: winnen op sportpark De Toekomst van Ajax A2. Daarnaast is het afhankelijk van de wedstrijd FC Twente A1 v PEC Zwolle A1. De ploeg van trainer Peter Hoekstra moet hopen op een nederlaag van de Zwollenaren. Gebeurt dat niet dan speelt FC Groningen A1 volgend seizoen niet op het hoogste niveau.
FC Groningen D2 kan als maximale nog een beslissingswedstrijd om het kampioenschap uit de wacht slepen. Ook voor D2 is winnen het devies. Tevens moet Be Quick 1887 D1 verliezen in Schalkhaar. In deze gevallen zullen beide stadsclubs met een gelijk aantal punten op de bovenste plaats eindigen.
De overige teams, ook die van de locatie in Leeuwarden, hebben komend weekeinde geen verplichtingen. Toch zal het ook voor SC Cambuur D1 een spannende dag worden. De ploeg moet hopen dat zowel Almere City FC D1 als De Graafschap D1 niet winnen. Dan is Cambuur zeker van lijfsbehoud. Mochten de Superboeren gelijk spelen dan volgt nog een beslissingswedstrijd.

Instroom 2016/2017 (zie foto) FC Groningen D1 wordt volgend seizoen versterkt met Djurre Laansma (Be Quick 1887). Bij de D2 stromen de volgende zes jongens in: Jesper Oosterbaan (Velocitas 1897), Noah Siahaya (ACV), Jordi Rensema (v.v. Hoogezand), Jayden Kuiper (v.v. Mamio), Rick Medema (Asser Boys), Xander Postma (Drachtster Boys).
