In de Nike Eredivisie is vandaag de competitie gestart. Op de Herdgang leed FC Groningen/Cambuur A1 een klein verlies tegen PSV A1.

In de eerste competitiewedstrijd van dit seizoen heeft FC Groningen/Cambuur A1 niet kunnen stuntten. PSV A1 was op de eigen Herdgang te sterk voor de Groningers die ditmaal gecoacht werden door hoofd jeugdopleiding Peter Jeltema. De thuisploeg was vanaf het begin dreigender maar verder dan een aantal schoten van afstand kwam men niet. Pas in de 26ste minuut kon het eerste noemenswaardige wapenfeit van de gasten genoteerd worden. De Eindhovense doelman pareerde een schot van Noureddine Boutzamar echter eenvoudig. Het duel leek doelpuntloos de rust in te gaan maar het werd toch nog 1-0 via een eigen treffer van verdediger Hans Hateboer.
PSV ging in de tweede helft meteen op jacht naar een tweede treffer. Toch kreeg ook Tigran Gazarjan een mogelijkheid om gelijk te maken. De Groningse speler leek alleen op de goalie te kunnen afgaan maar kwam snelheid tekort. Halverwege de tweede helft werd de voorsprong van de Brabantse ploeg verdubbeld. Rai Vloet was de maker van het doelpunt. Vervolgens werd FCG wat doelgerichter maar pogingen van Arjen Hagenauw en Boutzamar misten doel. In de 79ste minuut viel dan toch de aansluitingstreffer. Uit een voorzet van Hagenauw kon Gazarjan binnenschieten. Sietsma redde daarna nog eenmaal knap waarna PSV toch wat in paniek raakte. FCG zette aan en probeerde nog een punt uit het vuur te slepen. Zo probeerde Boutzamar het vlak voor tijd van veraf met een lob.
PSV hield echter stand en mocht uiteindelijk toch als verdiend winnaar het veld afstappen. Desondanks wel een nederlaag met perspectief want vergeleken met de bekernederlaag van vier dagen eerder tegen dezelfde opponent kon de groenwitte formatie wel meer brengen.
