Traditiegetrouw gaat de FC Groningen Opleiding dit seizoen op zoek naar de Leonardo Hotels Strijder van het Jaar. Een eretitel voor de speler of speelster uit de Opleiding die zich heeft onderscheiden op en buiten het veld. Avishay Lachman is de eerste van in totaal vijf spelers die een nominatie voor de titel Leonardo Hotels Strijder van het Jaar 2025 op zak heeft.
Vijf keer per seizoen kunnen trainers, coaches en managers een speler nomineren die in hun ogen in aanmerking komt voor de titel Leonardo Hotels Strijder van het Jaar. Na onderling overleg wordt er iedere keer één speler daadwerkelijk genomineerd. Om genomineerd te worden, moet de staf gedrag zien bij spelers dat past bij de kernwaarden van de Opleiding: aanpakken, reëel zijn en groeien.
Een speler die iedere dag het beste uit zichzelf wil halen, strijdt voor het beste resultaat en veel energie stopt in wat hij doet. Iemand die initiatief neemt, zowel binnen als buiten de lijnen, en geen excuses kent. Een nuchter en oprecht persoon.
Lachman, de 14-jarige centrale verdediger van FC Groningen onder-17, is de eerste van vijf genomineerden. “Ik ben natuurlijk heel blij met deze erkenning,” zegt Lachman. “Ik heb de laatste maanden keihard gewerkt om mee te doen bij Onder-17 en me zo goed mogelijk aangepast aan het niveau. Ik heb me goed kunnen ontwikkelen en zie deze nominatie als een beloning.”
De nominatie voor Leonardo Hotels Strijder van het Jaar 2025 geeft de verdediger die in 2022 de Opleiding binnenkwam vanuit HFC’15 uit Hoogkerk een extra stimulans keihard door te werken. “Ik moet leren nog agressiever te verdediger, beter worden aan de bal en fysiek sterker worden. Mijn doel is natuurlijk om het eerste te halen. Ik zal iedere dag hard blijven werken om het beste uit mezelf te halen.”
Sven Bouland werd afgelopen seizoen uitgeroepen tot Leonardo Hotels Strijder van het Jaar. Eerdere winnaars zijn onder andere; Thom van Bergen, Thijmen Blokzijl, Bjorn Meijer, Ludovit Reis en Tom van de Looi.
