FC Groningen stapt morgen, vrijdag 15 december, in de bus voor één van de verste uitduels van dit seizoen. De Trots van het Noorden wordt morgenavond in speelronde 19 van de Keuken Kampioen Divisie om 20.00 uur verwacht in Maastricht voor de aftrap tegen MVV. De ploeg van hoofdtrainer Dick Lukkien wordt in Stadion de Geusselt gesteund door meer dan 200 FC-supporters, die eveneens de lange tocht naar Limburg maken.Het duel wordt niet live uitgezonden door ESPN. FC-supporters die niet naar Limburg reizen kunnen de wedstrijd volgen via het schakelkanaal van de sportzender of het live-radioverslag van RTV Noord.
FC Groningen is inmiddels zes competitieduels op rij ongeslagen en wist de laatste vier wedstrijden in de Keuken Kampioen Divisie winnend af te sluiten. “Met MVV wacht vervolgens de nummer 14 van de ranglijst en dan ben je geneigd te zeggen: ‘Dat moet te doen zijn.’ En daarin schuilt ‘m nou net het gevaar,” waarschuwt Dick Lukkien. “Wij zijn niet in de positie om te denken dat het allemaal wel even gaat gebeuren. We moeten er iedere week weer klaar voor zijn en daar bereiden we de ploeg op voor.”
Wedstrijdselectie De bespreking voor het duel met MVV gaat voorbij aan een kwintet spelers. Kristian Lien en Noam Emeran zijn beiden nog geblesseerd. Ook Daleho Irandust is niet bij de wedstrijdselectie. De Zweed kreeg afgelopen dinsdag in een met 3-1 gewonnen besloten oefenduel met Cambuur een enorme schop op zijn enkel. Marco Rente (ziek) is een twijfelgeval. Tenslotte ontbreekt ook Kevin van Veen in Zuid-Limburg. De spits is afgelopen week vader geworden van een dochter en verblijft om deze reden nog bij zijn gezin in Schotland.
