FC Groningen huurt voor de rest van dit seizoen Mads Bech Sørensen. De 24-jarige Deense centrale verdediger komt per direct over van Brentford FC, waarvoor hij dit seizoen tot vier wedstrijden in de Premier League kwam. De Deen gaat in Euroborg spelen met rugnummer 29 en de voetbalnaam Bech op zijn shirt.
Mads Bech Sørensen is geboren in Horsens, Denemarken. Hij begon zijn voetbalcarrière in 2011 bij de plaatselijke AC Horsens. Medio 2017 maakte Sørensen al op jonge leeftijd de overstap naar Brentford FC in Engeland. De jeugdinternational van Denemarken werd de laatste seizoenen verhuurd aan respectievelijk AFC Wimbledon en OGC Nice. Voor dit seizoen kwam Sørensen tot 11 wedstrijden in de Premier League en 41 duels in het Championship, het op één na hoogste niveau van Engeland, waarin de centrale verdediger bovendien twee keer scoorde.
Grote, fysiek sterke verdediger Technisch directeur Mark-Jan Fledderus zegt over de komst van Sørensen: “Mads is een grote, fysiek sterke centrale verdediger. Hij heeft de laatste seizoenen op hoog niveau getraind en gevoetbald en brengt daarmee de nodige ervaring met zich mee.
