FC Groningen won vrijdagavond in eigen huis van FC Eindhoven. Het schot van invaller Laros Duarte zorgde uiteindelijk voor de driepunter in Euroborg. De ontlading van de FC-supporters na afloop van de wedstrijd was groot. Supporters waren door weer en wind richting Euroborg gekomen. De wedstrijddag begon regenachtig, maar zelfs de stevige hagelbuien werden getrotseerd om FC Groningen in Euroborg aan te moedigen. De supporters die het slechte weer hadden doorstaan om naar het stadion te komen, hadden het niet voor niets gedaan. Laros Duarte schoot de thuisploeg in de slotfase van het duel naar de overwinning.
