FC Groningen, basketbalclub Donar en volleybalvereniging Lycurgus hervatten de Meer & Beter Bewegen Tour komende woensdag vanaf 14.30 uur in Warffum. Na een succesvolle aftrap in de stadse wijk Oosterpark wordt nu doelbewust ook de regio opgezocht om de uitdaging van het aanpakken van bewegingsarmoede onder de aandacht te brengen. Deelname is gratis, aanmelden niet nodig.
De Meer & Beter Bewegen Tour past uitstekend in de maatschappelijke ambitie van FC Groningen om bewegingsarmoede in het verzorgingsgebied te bestrijden. De Trots van het Noorden heeft bij de lancering van het beleidsplan waarin ook deze maatschappelijke missie is omschreven, altijd gesteld dit probleem samen met andere topsportclubs, gemeenten en het bedrijfsleven te willen aanpakken. Met de Meer en Beter Bewegen Tour hebben de drie topsportclubs uit de stad Groningen de handen in een geslagen.
Simon Cageling, manager maatschappelijke programma’s van Stichting FC Groningen in de Maatschappij: “Deze Meer & Beter Bewegen Tour is een perfect voorbeeld hoe we via topsport een jonge generatie kunnen inspireren. Via onze gedreven trainers brengen we de jeugd in contact met voetbal, basketbal en volleybal. Na een zeer succesvolle start in het Oosterpark, waar wij als club natuurlijk onze roots hebben liggen, is het tijd om ook de regio in te gaan. We zijn blij dat de gemeente Het Hogeland direct enthousiast op onze plannen reageerde.”
Edwin Bolt, beleidsmedewerker sport en bewegen bij de gemeente Het Hogeland, legt uit waarom de Meer & Beter Bewegen Tour in Warffum met veel enthousiasme wordt ontvangen. “De Meer & Beter bewegen Tour sluit naadloos aan op onze visie met betrekking tot het stimuleren van sport en bewegen. Jongeren in beweging krijgen, in een veilige en plezierige omgeving, zodat ze aangezet worden om een leven lang te gaan sporten!”
Trainers van FC Groningen, Donar en Lycurgus zijn komende woensdag 15 februari vanaf 14.30 uur tot 16.00 uur aanwezig op het sportcomplex van VV Warffum aan de Westervalge 2. Deelname is gratis, aanmelden niet nodig.
De Meer & Beter Bewegen Tour is gefinancierd uit de opbrengsten van de Charity Run van de 4 Mijl van Groningen. De komende jaren is de Meer & Beter Bewegen Tour samen met Jeugdfonds Sport en Cultuur het goede doel van het hardloopevenement in Groningen.
